Your First Visit
After you receive a warm welcome as a new patient from our front desk assistant, Stacy, you’ll receive some brief paperwork to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. Dr. Nelson may ask you to complete more detailed questionnaires at a later visit to help him fine-tune your treatment plan.
History and Examination
In order to give you the most accurate diagnosis possible, the doctor and/or his assistants will ask you various questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
We rarely have to refer you for imaging or advanced imaging but your specific condition may require us to refer you to take x-rays to rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.
Following your examination and testing, you will have a brief consultation with Dr. Nelson to discuss your health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options.
Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice application instructions; avoidance of certain activities, positions, or foods; and nutritional supplements.
Schedule Your Next Appointment
Stacy will help you find a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Please expect to be seen within the 1-3 business days for a complete report of tests and recommendations. Treatment and payment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
