As we move into one of the most beautiful times of the year in Minnesota the yearly phenomenon of the weekend warrior returns. Many people think we, as chiropractors, are way busier when it snows but they are usually surprised to find out that we are moving into the busiest times of the year for us.
Picture this, several months of lower activity, it’s cold, nothing to do, sitting on the couch, then a glimmer of hope, longer days, slightly warmer, thawing ground excitement of planning the garden and before we know it we have been working outside all day long and our bodies are starting to get sore. We move from a season of lower activity to getting as much out of each day as we can.
Be proactive this season start out your days with some good stretching, light activity and the biggest suggestion, don’t stay doing the same activity for long periods. Work a project for an hour or so then move to something else. The shift in how you use your body will help reduce the stress on it. We are working on adding a stretching routine to the website and we will send out a notice when that is up.
In the excitement of warmer days we have been shifting our food palate to more of a warm weather zone. Here is a easy, quick yummy salad! Enjoy:)
Spring Recipe: Cranberry and Clementine Salad
2.5 oz. fresh spinach;
2.5 oz. baby kale;
3/4 cup celery, chopped;
3/4 cup dried cranberries;
1 to 2 clementine, segmented;
1 large Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced;
1/4 cup pine nuts, roasted;
Poppy seed dressing ingredients
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil;
2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar;
1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice;
1/8 tsp. paprika;
1/8 tsp. onion powder;
1 tbsp. poppy seeds;
